1) The Trust was established In July, 1979 for Charitable purposes as defined in the Income Tax Act, 1961 I.e. for the purpose Of Relief of Poverty, Education and Medical assistance.
2) The beneficiaries of the Trust are the people belonging to the Town of Porbandar (Gujarat State) but residing In the State of Maharashtra, without any discrimination as to the Caste, Creed or Religion.
3) Since Inception, the Trust has done excellent work in all above Charitable Objects, Its achievements are briefly stated below:
A) EDUCATION :
The Trust has helped many students by granting school fees, college fees, computer course fees. Engineering and Medical course fees and in a deserving cases help was also given to students to proceed to abroad for further and advanced studies. The Trust has also given a helping hand to purchase books, specially for medicines, Engineering, Business management and such other advanced studies as the cost of these books are beyond the reach of an average person.
In order to encourage education, the Trust also organise annual function to reward bright students.
The Trust considers even trekking activities amongst the young generation as a link to the education and
the national streamline and therefore the Trust subsidies trekking activities which are being sponsored
either by the State or Central affiliated institutions.
B) MEDICAL ASSISTANCE:
Medical expenses is also another area where an average person prefers Co suffer and awaits its consequences, due to exorbitant cost of medicines and treatment.
The Trust gives aid to buy medicines, meet the Doctors' & Consultants' fees and look after hospitalisation expenses. The Trust In fact has plan to reserve bed in hospital so that in an emergency a person recommended by the Trust can be admitted immediately for the treatment. The Trust has also organised Orthopedic and Cancer camps in order to give a benefit to the weaker section of the samaj.
C) RELIEF OF POVERTY :
The Trust helps very needy persons like widows, handicapped and old persons by giving them financial help to meet their day to day needs, it prevents our old respected senior citizens to fall in an embarrassing situations and helps them to live with self-respect.
D) HOUSING PROJECT:
For last two years the Trust has embarked on "Housing Project Scheme". The persons of weaker section
who are staying jointly having big families in one room have been assisted to buy new houses to
accommodate their families In little comfort. These are the families who can never dream of owning their
ownership flats due to high cost of houses and having a meagre sources of income.
The Trust has helped so far about sixteen families to get new flats with the active joint participation of the Housing Development Finance Corporation (H.D.F.C.). The Trust has given the Financial Guarantees on behalf of the beneficiaries to the H.D.F.C. against loans sanctioned by them to such beneficiaries who but for these guarantees would not otherwise eligible or qualify to get housing loans as per the norms of H,D,F,C. This project has been widely appreciated by the people and the H.D.F.C. also. The project has run very smoothly with the co-operation of the H,D,F,C. and the beneficiaries* The Trust also envisages a further plan whereby out of the instalments refunded by such beneficiaries would be utilised to give housing loans to new families.
E) The Trust has also appealed to the members and general public to contribute towards the Gujarat Earthquake Relief Fund. The Trust collected Rs. 1,69,049/- and utilized the entire receipt. |
